Node Farm - v2.0 - Big Farm mode!

Hello Node Farmers!

After a few months of adding improvements and features - Node Farm is entering a new era - version 2.0!

I introduced a few big things that I would like to share:

Big Farm

Big Farm is a new mode that focuses (like the name suggests) on building big farms! It is an alternative version of gameplay (compared to the previous one - roguelite) and I think that it may be a preferred way to to play now! (classic roguelite mode is still available though)

In general, this mode is more similar to the standard way of playing in other games of this genre. I hope that you will like it!

What is different in Big Farm mode?

  • You start with 1 island and a boss island.
  • You can buy islands anytime, and you can buy as many as you want.
  • Boss Island is not destroyed after finishing a Boss. Instead, it increases the Farm Level.
  • On each Farm Level, the boss will require a different number of resources/dishes. The difficulty level is increasing along with the Farm Level.
  • After leveling up, you will be rewarded with an unlocked node (only for this run) and a global modifier. You can still unlock nodes in metaprogression so they will be available from the beginning of Big Farm mode.
  • When you finish all bosses (50+), you will unlock the next level of NewGame+ with much harder, procedurally generated challenges. You can also play endlessly if you would like to.
  • Big Farm boss is also selling a resource/dish that you provide to him, to markets are useful only if the boss is not requesting this particular dish.
  • I had to make some changes in balance for this mode, so the metapoints income here is 3x smaller and there is no first recipe bonus.
  • Cats are scaling better in this mode (depending on how many you have them on the boss island)
  • Storage to Storage transport is enabled in this mode by default. (can be disabled in the settings)

It is a lot of fun to play!

One Way Connections

You probably remember the One-Way Road node. I like how it works but I found it a little clunky, so now you can toggle "one way connection" mode in the toolbar and just make connections that will transport resources only one way! It makes a life much more easier!

Performance Update

Implementing a Big Farm required also a lot of performance fixes. Now the game is much more smooth!

Better Storages

It took me some time, but they work now without issues. The farms are crazy efficient now if you place the storage strategically as a buffer near the kitchen/crafter nodes!

Hardcore Mode - Removed

I realized that after adding so many modes, difficulty levels, and NewGame+ in Big Farm mode - Hardcore Mode is not needed anymore as a legacy mode that adds much more work in regression testing. Especially when it was not used that often by players.

If you would like to see this mode in the game, or just include taxes as a part of difficulty - let me know!

Other Updates

There are a lot of smaller updates/bug fixes, but a few require a honorable mention:

  • New: Multifilter node - an easier version of a filter node, where you can select multiple resources to filter (on a grid).
  • Improvement: Global buffs are aggregated now in the Pause View.
  • Improvement: Copy paste from the shop is possible now
  • Improvement: I added a few more toggle options in the settings
  • Change: More popups with info when the resource is produced/consumed (as always - can be disabled in the settings)
  • Change: Transport speed buff is debuffed.
