For the most part, I liked it. It has good progression, though I have to say it feels a bit limited. You could add a lot more upgrades (like straighter bullets, faster bullets, fire rate, and so on) to make it more strategic. Right now, it feels too linear. It also needs a 2x speed option when evolving so players can skip through the animations faster.
The final boss was a bit frustrating. First of all, there’s a sudden spike in difficulty. On top of that, to defeat it I had to (unnecessarily) evolve 5 or 6 more times to grind for souls and then just cross my fingers that I’d resurrect at least 2 or 3 times. I think I beat it with 39k souls. It felt too grindy, and I didn’t feel like I won because of skill, it felt more like luck, which left me a bit unsatisfied as a player.
I’d argue that by the end, the game should make the player feel awesome and powerful. Maybe the resurrection mechanic could involve some kind of minigame instead of relying on random chance that doesn’t scale. Right now, it’s like flipping a coin four times and only winning if you get four heads. That’s not really challenging, and it doesn’t feel especially rewarding when you finally do it.
Other than that, I enjoyed it. It’s simple to understand, the UI is clear and straightforward, and the gameplay is fun and enjoyable. It takes approximately one hour to beat.
Overall, I’d recommend it.
