The wait is over - this update brings three major new systems, after a much longer test phase than originally planned. Based on your feedback and suggestions, this patch also includes a large number of fixes, balance changes, and stability improvements.

**Transcendence**
A portal malfunction sends you back to earlier Ascensions – but with new possibilities.

Hey guys! Huge thanks to all of you who have played the game in these last 2 days, I've been extremely happy with the reception. Here's a quick patch!

**This update has changed & added the following things:**

*   Added borderless fullscreen option to the visual settings
*   All 4 minigames are now immediately unlocked once you have a party orb, applying party orbs to a class reduces the cooldown of their minigame. (This is because I do **not** want to lock 100%'ing the game behind waiting IRL time)
*   You can now middle click a class to open their skill panel
*   Fixed a bug where the diamonds would count as ruby in the mining minigame
*   Fixed a bug where Skill power rune would invert Blade clash's ability (effectively **increasing** enemies damage)
*   Reduced the **Final stand** ability of the Goblin Warrior
*   Fixed a bug where a leaderboard slot saying "Seyloj 250k" would be displayed
*   Fixed a bug where the kills leaderboard would submit scores in log2
*   Added engineering number format
*   The skill runes have had their effects (both buffs & debuffs) reduced

Had to get this patch out asap due to the skill power rune bug and so, I did all the fixes & QOL changes that could be done quickly alongside it. I'm aware of the bug with skills sometimes being softlocked when they are autocast and I'm looking into it. If this bug happens to you, then please let me know which skill it happened to and what the stats of it was (power, duration \[if applicable], and cooldown).

More content will also come later on, I plan on expanding the rebirth tree as well as the endgame.

Now, we’re back to consistently working on new updates, but not at the same intensity as before. To add a time framework to all this, we are sharing a roadmap. After much reflection I do not believe the poor codebase of execute could support the 2.0 version that I would want to deliver.

I do plan to make an Execute 2 sometime in the future. I plan to Expand on Execute in that game quite extensively.

**For now, I am still focused on improving Execute with QoL patches, and possibly some alternative scenarios in the form of challenge modes.

We're super excited to announce that **Excremental Game**, which started out as a silly little prototype we made for fun, will be coming to Steam!

While working on our other project - [Roulette Dungeon](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3399930/Roulette_Dungeon/) - we held a little in-house game jam and came up with this tiny "shitpost-y" game, proceeded to upload it to itch, and … it turned out to be the most successful thing we ever made, I guess...?

Heroes For Hire's main campaign is almost done! This update brings the two key holders to the game, the Crystal Queen found in the Cloud Kingdom and the Ember Lord found in Ember's Maw! Found at Tier 4, these bosses drop materials used to craft the highest level gear in the game!

Along with that, they drop two key pieces that can be combined, this key will have a use in the future…

### Additions:

- You can now hover over a hero's equipment strength and defence to see how much damage they'll deal and block. (The sun in the background moves on the same tick cycle as the dungeon.)

- Three new stores have been added!

- Hunter: Sells monster drops at an inflated price. Defeat the Twin Snakes for him to show up in your guild, and have a room with a comfy rating of 0.6.

- Sailor: Sells boss spawners. Defeat Hurricane Titus for him to show up in your guild, and have a room with at least 4 beds.

- Wizard: Sells magical items. Defeat Major Mimic for him to show up in your guild, and have a room with a fun rating of 0.5.

- Tier 4 dungeons have been added!

- Items dropped bosses can be crafted with tier 4 ore and wood to create tier 5 materials!

- Both have bosses that drop a half of a key that can be combined. (Also rarely dropped by the Void Cultists.)

- The dimensional key will have a use in the future…

### Ember Maw:

- The hiding spot of an exiled dragon king that breathes sulphur and smoke. Drops scales and dust that can be used to upgrade Tier 4 ore.

- Boss is the Ember Lord, a dragon that can breathe smoke and sulphur to blind and poison heroes!

- Drops items that can be made into furniture, and a relic. Corrupted Claw: When an enemy is hit, one stack of all of their current status effects is transferred to the enemy.

### Cloud Kingdom:

- A magical crystal city in the clouds, ruled by the Crystal Queen, a large and powerful gryphon. Drops feathers and dust that can be used to upgrade Tier 4 wood.

- Boss is Crystal Queen, with an attack that freezes heroes, and the ability to summon helpful pylons.

- Also drops items for furniture and a relic. Frigid Talon: Attacks on enemies with 80% or more health will always freeze.

### Other Changes:

- Up to 3 status effects can now be displayed at once.

- Changed how heroes target bosses so that spawned enemies aren't ignored.

- Tier 5 materials can no longer drop in raids from enemies.

- Heroes will now only use Miracle Cure when a teammate has a status effect.

- The Holy clothing set now has a new set bonus! Now applies 5 stacks of holy if the hero's health is below 15%.

- The Mourner's clothing set now has a set bonus too! Heroes no longer take damage from cursed relics while wearing this set. Both sets were exceptionally niche (effectively just tournaments, where they were overpowered) and weaker than I wanted, so hopefully these changes make them more viable.

### Balance:

- The Ritual Candle relic now applies curse, not bleed.

- Burning enemies now take 15% more damage. (Shock slows enemies, so I felt that burn needed a passive effect as well, especially as it was fairly weak before.)

- Sand Traps now apply a stack of smoked when they go off as well.

- Tweaked the formula for guild fullness, mostly to be more lenient.

- Reduced (15%) exp rates above level zero raids, unless the hero is solo then it is increased. I felt the fame was progressing a bit too fast and it was easy to miss stuff.

- Increased the experience rate boost from the Speedway Slums mission.

- Materials from the void ritual are now rarer! Sorry, this was a temporary thing until the tier 4 dungeons dropped.

- Some clothing had stats incorrectly calculated, this has been fixed.

- Higher level spiders now drop more webs.

- Higher level sand is now more common as well.

- Tweaked the Slime and Cave enemy spawns at a higher level.

- Hero happiness is now impacted far less by working overtime, but hero mood is impacted far more.

- Mood now also restores slower.

- Bosses, and Tended Hollows are now clamped to Tier 4\. There may have been a glitch with this, sorry.

- Tweaked the HP scale for enemies, should mostly only come into play for Tier 5 raids.

- Webs and sand are now more common from gathering. Gathering now works for Tier 3 and above materials as well.

- The Fashionista now requires 0.4 beauty rating, not 0.6.

- Demolitionist now requires 200 reputation to show up in the guild, and Black Market needs 350.

### Bug Fixes:

- Fixed an issue with saving templates as a default.

- Rerolling T5 equipment with magic dust no longer turns them into T4 equipment.

- Fixed placing down Advanced Tables and Advanced Books. Oops, sorry.

- Fixed not being able to place an Advanced Bed.

- A large amount of furniture was also being drawn wrong and should be fixed.

Hey miners, patch 1.1 is the big worker update. I rebuilt how workers behave, how they animate, and how they recover when they get stuck doing the classic “stare at a wall forever” move. I also did a bunch of work on energy and prestige so the numbers on screen match what the game is actually doing.

**Quick highlights**
• Workers now spawn with personalities, so they stop feeling like clones
• Way more idle and reaction animations, plus mining looks different on hard blocks
• New nearby worker bonus to reward clustering
• Stuck detection and recovery so workers do not freeze permanently
• Energy and prestige fixes, including clearer regen info and fewer trap situations

**Worker personalities**
Every new hire now rolls one personality and keeps it forever. This changes how they move, idle, and perform.

**Personalities in the pool**
• Diligent: stays focused, idles less, more consistent mining output
• Lazy: slower and takes more breaks, but tends to use less energy
• Curious: switches things up more often instead of locking onto one job
• Social: normal solo, but gets extra value from the nearby worker bonus
• Perfectionist: slower and methodical, but stronger mining efficiency
• Speedster: very fast and rarely idles, but burns energy harder than others

**Animations got a glow up**
Workers now have 11 contextual idle animations. You will see things like waving, chatting, sitting when low energy, yawning when tired, sharpening tools when durability is low, and a bunch more context driven idles.

**Mining animations now react to difficulty**
Harder blocks have heavier windup and bigger impact so it actually looks like they are working for it.

**Combos now juice the animation too**
Combo tiers from 0 to 4 increase mining animation speed from 1.0x to 1.4x and scale the impact accordingly.

**Movement also has personality now**
Tired workers wobble more. Social workers walk with more confidence. Lazy workers shuffle like they just got out of bed and regret everything.

**New social mechanics**
Workers now check for teammates within 5 units and gain an efficiency bonus.

**How the bonus works**
• +5% efficiency per nearby worker within 5 units

Social workers will also visibly interact more when grouped, with more waving and chatting so the bonus is not just invisible math.

**Workers can also react to nearby events with 7 reaction types**
Notice, Impressed, Startled, Curious, Competitive, Sympathetic, Excited

**Stuck detection and recovery**
I added a proper system to stop workers from getting permanently stuck.

**How it works**
• I track movement over a 5 second window
• If a worker has not moved, recovery kicks in

**Recovery has three steps**
1 Reset internal state
2 Nudge position slightly
3 Teleport to a random location if they are still stuck

**Also included**
• Block claim timeout is now 12 seconds so workers do not wait forever
• If there are no blocks, workers wander to exploration positions instead of freezing

Tools and Equipment is now actually discoverable
Tools used to feel like a mystery feature. Now it is clearly research gated and shows up when you earn it.

**Unlock**
Complete the Advanced Tooling Facility research node to unlock a new Tools tab.

Requirements
• Prereqs: Singularity Theory, Temporal Manipulation, Void Extraction
• Depth gate: 4500m
• Cost: 70,000 ore, 500 dark matter, 250 qbits, 300 uranium, 1,200 crystals, 6,000 energy
• Duration: 420 seconds

**What you get** • 8 tool types from Basic Pickaxe up to Singularity Drill • Upgradeable with scaling costs • Upgrade cost display is stabilized with a small caching window so it does not flicker while browsing

**Fixes and improvements**

Uranium events are easier to see and rewards match the UI
• Uranium deposits surface via a dedicated Events tab once uranium prospecting is unlocked
• Discovery and expiry notifications are clearer
• Survey bonuses now correctly boost uranium block rewards and the “uranium found” notification amounts

**Energy system clarity**

This was a long running pain point. The UI now tells the truth. • Resource panel shows base regen and effective regen clearly • At max energy state is called out so you know why production is not rising • Debug overlay reports net energy flow and inferred drain and cap info correctly

**VoidMiner energy stability**
VoidMiners were causing energy display flicker by trying to drain every frame.
Fix: I added a minimum energy threshold equal to 2 times their cost per operation. If energy is below that, they fully idle so regen can actually recover.

**Engineer energy scaling**
Engineer energy consumption now scales logarithmically based on depth, max energy, and upgrades.
Early game is more accessible and late game stays challenging without becoming impossible.

**Prestige based energy regeneration**
Energy regen now scales mildly with your quantum multiplier.
• You gain 25% of your quantum bonus to regen
• Cap is 2x

**Worker theft recovery**
Bosses stealing workers no longer leaves ghost workers and weird hire costs. The mine field and costs now correctly reflect your remaining workforce.

**Prestige upgrade completion gate**
Prestige is blocked until every unlocked, non temporarily disabled upgrade is purchased. The Prestige tab lists missing upgrades and explains why the button is greyed out.

If you really need to restart early
A new “Prestige Anyway Full Reset” button appears under the warning. This triggers the full reset confirmation and clears everything.

**Prestige trap prevention and recovery tools**
I now detect prestige traps in real time and I added recovery options.
• Warnings call out the bottleneck resource and severity
• Quantum Points can reduce prestige requirements over time
• Prestige bonuses have a guaranteed baseline so each prestige level matters
• Milestones and thresholds standardized so UI matches behavior
• Refund path lets you spend Quantum Points to roll back prestige levels if you overshoot
• Full reset option remains available if you want a clean slate

**Early prestige pacing levels 1 to 3**
• Prestige 1: 750m depth, 45 crystals, reward 6 QP
• Prestige 2: 950m depth, 60 crystals, 75 ore, reward 8 QP
• Prestige 3: 1150m depth, 75 crystals, 150 ore, reward 11 QP

**First run boosts prestige 0**
• Worker research costs have a 25% discount on prestige 0

**Worker pace and cooldowns**
Workers are still strong, but less hyperactive early on.
• Efficiency scaled cooldown before retargeting and moving again
• Guaranteed minimum damage per mining cycle for more consistent progress
• Combo bonuses capped so streaks do not snowball into absurd speed
• Base hiring cost increased to slow early worker spam: 11.8 ore, 1.15x scaling

**UI responsiveness**
A bunch of click issues came from handling on mouse down instead of mouse release. I switched buttons and tabs to standard egui clicked behavior, which should make the UI feel way less flaky.

**Reactor and production math consistency**
Bonuses now apply consistently in the simulation, not just in the UI. Reactor bonuses now properly affect max energy, regen, worker efficiency, research speed, and automation output. Multipliers now apply correctly to clicks, block rewards, workers, and automation.

**Reactor fuel burn balance**
Baseline fuel drain is now tuned to 1 uranium per minute before level and overload multipliers.

**Windows graphics backend selection**
Windows builds now support Vulkan first or DirectX 12 first configurations, with automatic fallback if the preferred backend fails.

**Audio and controls polish**
• Added “Subterranean Echoes” as gameplay background music with smooth menu and game transitions
• Fixed keybinding mix ups so toggles open the intended windows and help text matches

**Research cost rebalance**
Upgrades Facility research costs increased to slow mid game acceleration.
• Ore 2500 to 3738
• Blocks 1000 to 1495
• Crystals 50 to 70
• Energy 200 to 290

**Crystal block rewards**
Base crystal reward reduced by 18% from 0.78 to 0.64 per block.

**Changes**:

*   Faster initial attack for the Guardians Ankaa and Vermilion
*   Added visual feedback on click / tap
*   War machines speed is twice as fast by default. Speed options updated: previous x2 speed is now x1, the previous x4 speed is now x2 and x4 removed
*   Minor visual updates to the Shop, Special Offers, Scarab’s Game menus and other UI elements
*   Added a login queue system to handle high player traffic and improve server stability

**Fixes**:

*   Further optimizations to improve performance and reduce download size
*   Fixed flickering animations in various cases
*   Inactive players are now correctly removed from Guilds and Fellowships according to the existing rules
