Imberite Idle Demo review

An incremental where you spend your mining currency on lootboxes that contain modules of varying rarity. Higher rarity modules increase production very very slightly, and grant bonuses to specific adjacent tiles if they have the right type of module.

So... if you like lootboxes, that might not totally suck.

I hate gambling.

There's also a "quest" system that involves throwing perfectly usable modules into a bin, if they're the right type and rarity, to get a currency that can upgrade aspects of the game like... unlocking different lootboxes.

So I filled the 3x3 grid, and very slowly finished the first quest post-tutorial. And didn't get nearly enough upgrade points to matter. The gameplay doesn't change any, it's just... wait, gamble, see if you made any progress in any way, sell back the modules you can't use at a loss, and wait to get another lootbox.

This is a gambling addiction mechanic that doesn't actually feel rewarding to "win", you just get to shuffle around the grid and make tiny increases in the rate at which you can open lootboxes?

So it's the one thing worse than just gambling, it's boring gambling.

It runs, and there is technically some player interaction with placing and arranging the grid for best bonuses, but... it's "wait to get lucky enough to play slightly more game".
