So I played through the whole demo. The game is decent overall, but I feel like the progression struggles quite a bit.
At first, it’s far too grindy. You spend several 5-minute sessions just to afford a tiny upgrade to pickaxe speed. Then later (especially once gold is unlocked) the balance completely flips, and suddenly you can buy 10 to 15 upgrades at once. That sounds exciting in theory, but in practice it feels unbalanced because I never really got to enjoy those upgrades individually. I basically went from 0 to max on five different upgrades in a single run.
The gameplay itself also becomes pretty repetitive. There isn’t much to actively do, and the clicking never feels satisfying enough, even with full upgrades (at least in the demo). The best you can do is leave the game running, come back later and buy upgrades. The click cooldown doesn’t help either, it mostly makes the player feel artificially held back. And the abilities just force you to look at the screen and wait for like 10 seconds to click a button and then wait 10 seconds more.
I also never really found that “awesome” moment. Even with lots of pickaxes, ores, bombs, and goblins on screen, it never felt especially satisfying to me. It just didn’t fully click, probably because the early game grind had already frustrated me a bit by then.
On the positive side, the art is really nice. The simple pixel art style works well, the animations are good, and the sound design is solid. There’s definitely a strong foundation here, it just needs some balancing and tweaking.
