EchoProtocol review

I played it for about half an hour. It's very Nodebuster-like, short levels, upgrade trees, rinse and repeat. It feels like the upgrades are very expensive just to extend the gameplay and the grind, but they don't offer much real variety (more energy, more drones, more resistance, and so on), so it becomes very repetitive after a while.

The art is ok, unique, with a sort of hand-drawn paper style, but since almost everything shares the same grey tones, it's sometimes hard to tell what's going on on the screen, which drone is attacking which asteroid, and which particles belong to destroyed asteroids. Not that you have much control over it, since it's mostly automatic, but it would still be nice to better understand what's happening visually.

It needs more depth. You could say it's a good foundation if the game expands into something bigger, but right now it's very simple. It needs more elements, probably something manual you can do with your mouse, like firing a laser to destroy asteroids, to keep the player entertained while the drones do their thing.
