This is a puzzle strategy game: each run you're exploring new features and figuring out how to make a build that works to push to the next prestige currency thresholds to unlock more/stronger abilities.
I enjoyed it and completed the game (to 25 DNA), but currently a major annoyance/frustration exists:
- you will sometimes allocate your limited units "poorly" without fully understanding that until later; assigning too many haulers, or too many to foragers, etc. This can effectively brick a run, necessitating a restart.
- There is a prestige perk that helps a lot by giving you a way to un-allocate assigned workers so you can re-spec mid run.
- However (here's the frustration): you have to sacrifice 2 workers as payment to use that option. Meaning it's always better to just fully restart the run.
Because of this, trying to beat the last few prestige thresholds is way more of a chore than it should be, while you're trying things out and exploring what does/doesn't work. (You'll still need to restart to reassign your limited brains though)
Someone complained about this on the steam forums, and the dev replied "Fair enough, I agree with you. I'll do something about it in a future update soon. :)"
My rec and positive score here are based on the assumption that this gets fixed. Anyone that happens to read this, I suggest putting off playing until you see a patch note about it.
