Tour of Heroes review
2

Man, I remember enjoying this game before when I played it a while ago, but...going back now, the incentivization to CONSTANTLY spam click really gets on my nerves. I don't think my fingers were quite as sensitive back then, but...well, after growing up playing games like this, they're a fair bit more sensitive to it now!

Basically, it looks like an idle skill trainer at first...but clicking the progress bar speeds up how fast you train. By a LOT. You're legitimately looking at everything taking at least 5 times longer if you're not sitting there and spam-clicking for basically your entire playtime! ...And now the memories are starting to return to me of my first playthrough, the forgotten frustration of having to do exactly that, the tedium of it...didn't remember that part before.

And you might think, well, just accept that the game will take longer and don't click if you don't want to, right? If you were, that's not a valid argument, if the game actively incentivizes the behaviour (especially THAT heavily), then it's the game's fault for rewarding suffering and not the player's fault for choosing to suffer...but even still, I tried! ...And as soon as I unlocked the 2nd class, and I saw what their special perk was...

"Strong Phalanges: Base clicking power increased by 50%"

...That's when I knew it was wraps. The game clearly intends for you to be clicking a lot, and clicking often, as the second class basically doesn't get a special perk if you don't click. That's the moment that I decided to stop playing, and changed my old like on the game to a dislike. (And wrote this, obviously, don't think I ever really wrote reviews back then!)

In short, 2/5 because I WANT to like it, but it's far too reliant on being forced to constantly spam-click. If you have an autoclicker and don't mind having to constantly babysit the progress bar with your cursor, then go ahead! I remember it being at least a little satisfying.

...Be warned there is no dark mode though, I know, very sad. (And no, that doesn't meaningfully affect my rating, it's just something worth mentioning. I've played plenty of games without dark modes before, so that kind of thing doesn't stop me! Even if it would be nice to have.)
