Idle Mint review

The game seems to have gotten a complete reboot about a month ago at the time of writing and no longer resembles the pictures on this listing at all. It's now a pachinko game where you buy and place pegs in 3 different tiers. Boosts for each tier don't work on coins of any other tier, and by the time you start making enough to buy the next tier, your current coins are making around the same amount as the new ones would, but much faster, so generally you'll want to wait for a while longer before really starting to transition.

Some things felt maybe a little redundant, like I don't know if you really need both splitters and duplicators (one guarantees a duplication but halves value, while the other has a percent chance to duplicate at full value... personally I think the half-value one is better since you can just put it before adders which will add several times the value anyways.) I think I hit some performance limits near the end where it couldn't keep up with the calculations and gave me less than it should've, but that would be because I used a strategy of making thousands of bronze coins per second and upgrading them to gold, rather than just spawning gold coins directly.

Unlike the pictures of the previous version, there's no upgrades to buy beyond upgrading the pegs themselves, though the game in general seems to be in a much earlier state since it's being remade from scratch. There was an inventory screen that was presumably for storing pegs, but I couldn't find any button to store them and could only sell a peg to get rid of it. There was also a "cash peg", which gives money every time it's hit, that you started with and couldn't buy any more of, but upgrading it wasn't worth it at all. Like, it would cost billions just to get +$1 per hit before you even reached 20. All in all, though, this was a good enough way to spend an hour.

Also, it says it saves your progress and continues playing offline, but when I closed and reopened the tab it started me over from the beginning.
