Scratches that "I need a fantasy light snack" itch.
I was an incrementalist goblin and would eat incremental games trash to sate that hunger. Everything from OSTM, Shark Game, everything on Steam with "Free to Play" and "Incremental" tags. Incremental slop on mobile.
Something about this game felt on point. Like the first time you played WoW (vanilla) and you knew you were in for something special. The evidence being that I stopped looking once I found this. Hopefully I can get at least a month's worth of playtime.
Excellent work on the itemization, all items turn into something and nothing is a dead end because low level salvage mats can be up-cycled. This also means that early content never becomes obsolete.
Unfortunately the clock cannot be reset back to early 2000s so different monetization needs to be implemented. I would personally watch ads in exchange for small rewards. Though I have no idea what the balancing on the target audience would look like. It could possibly lose a core demographic. This one is entirely the dev's call. Just remember the cardinal sin of "ads4reward" is watching the ad but negating the reward. This happens mostly on mobile where the ads crash the app. Waited 90 seconds of ads, app crashes, didn't get my reward, deleted the game and installed and used the ad that was playing long enough to negative review their product.
Game is missing a "Grind." Subscription model wants you to grind because they get your money, but some players realized they just like grinding. Currently the Jail system the closest thing to a "Grind." In clicker incrementals you just, keep clicking. Once again I have no idea how this could be implemented and what it would break, only that it would be nice to have. Maybe a lock picking mini-game. The lore would be you're practising for the real thing.
This sort of touches monetization as well, mini game is to solve a ReCapcha and watch an Ad or solve some rudimentary puzzle, something to generate the Server some kind of something. It exists in Mobile. You solve a 3x3 jigsaw puzzle of an icon of some app/product and the 30 second timer is reduced to 0. (It takes about 10 seconds to solve because of the delay in UI and hardware limitations.)
Future ideas for free:
Alchemy/Apothecary lab to mix poisons apply to weapon for improved attack. Oils for equipment to make you more "Slippery."
Narcotics that give you a major boost for 1 job and debuff you (for when logging off for a long time). Do a job, 12h debuff since you wont be back anyway.
Garden/Herbalism to grow the plants for the alch/apo lab. Possibly build sheers/gloves to steal plants from castle.
Mining to extract the Iron, then forge it into ingots. This can be a mini-game/grind. Since you're not mining you're just sneaking through a mine to steal already mined material and obviously can't carry more than 1-2 ingots worth of raw materials.
Skinning. A party went out, killed a great scaled beast, you steal a few scales while they're away/distracted. This could simply be a mission type as well. Doing this dulls your "Blade" and makes it unfit to use for some period of time. Possibly a repair mechanic. This could also be a mini-game. Work at a laundromat type establishment cleaning other player's gear. Also obvious money laundering joke.
