You have moths. You get your moths to collect lights. You upgrade your moths so they collect faster or have more of them. Heck, you can even upgrade the light grid itself so it can keep up with your moths. When you start the game, it gives you a tutorial screen which just tells you what most buttons does. I say most because some of them you don't even know until you try clicking it. The UI is pretty nice. You can see your moths actually going into the lights and collecting them. The mechanics are basic, but it goes really well with the core of "more moths more lights". You might even see golden moths worth a lot of lights once in a while. If you want to play this, it's more of a "look, moths!" than a clicker game. there's also buttons that the tutorial never tells you about.. like AUTO and TURBO, which helps you progress a lot faster so you don't have to wait a long time or manually move through hundred of stages yourself.. talking about that, choosing a stage sucks. It's understandable that there's no reason to go back to the early stages since your power would never get to scale up because the reward is so low, but remember, there's 10 colors and you can only see 5 stages at a time.
Now, the prestige layers. They're basic, but they go well with the game. First layer gives a base multi that helps starting off easier, and it gives an exponential boost so that once you take off, you can progress further. The second layer just boosts the first layer's gains, but also has its own exponential multi. Here's the funny part: this game's description says that it has two layers of prestige, but that's a lie. IT HAS THREE LAYERS. The last layer is "ascend" and it also boosts light gain.. and a lot of QoL things that they should've added to the mid game. Like.. you know, auto buy. At this point, most upgrades barely even matter because the turbo button (and its upgrades) are the only things you'll ever need to progress.. just make sure that you're aware of the flashing colors when your moths devour the lights.
Overall, this game is a nice fresh air from all the generic incremental games I've played, as far as the core mechanics go. It'll take a few hours to reach the finish [~stage550+] (if you're actively upgrading and prestiging) but it might even take a day or two if you idle it. It's semi-active that you actually need to click prestige and rebirth and ascend as there's no automation on it, but it's not too bad since the turbo button makes everything a thousand times faster.
note: I'm at about stage 600, and if there's a real ending, i'll update this review.
