Light the City! review

I really wish I could recommend this, but I can't. The concept of the game is very good, but it really feels like the stock market-like system works against you at every step, constantly raising prices to absurd levels, and making the game a lot less fun than it should be, since you're constantly stuck trying to at least break even instead of actually progressing through the game (I know this aspect of the game gets remedied fairly quickly, but you're still not making money fairly frequently, which can get you stuck for quite a while if you're unlucky).

The prices still increase by a lot even while you're not buying the materials, which makes the game feel a lot less fun, since you're severely punished for not buying things when you don't need them and like don't even have the money to buy them (and I get that's part of the point, but the items can easily get up to 10x their current price in a matter of minutes, which will very quickly dash any hopes of setting up more power plants or storage).

Maybe I'm a bit too early on to tell if there's more interesting things in the horizon (the game does mention a reduction in prices according to population, although I've yet to notice this), but I really cannot recommend this past it being a fun gimmick that gets old relatively quickly.
