Microcivilization review

For an idle game, this is incredibly active. As of 0.7, which is the version I played, you won’t really be having much offline progress. Clicker is probably a better description of its mechanics.

As the namesake suggests, this game is about building a civilization. You click, you research, you advance to the next age, from the stone age to the modern age. Most of your time will probably be spent either fighting fires (both literally and metaphorically in the form of the crises mechanic), reorganizing your heroes, exploring the map, or advancing to the next age. You will always be doing something. Then you prestige. There isn’t a lot of depth to it, and it honestly kind of gets old after a while.

I got pretty excited waiting for it and binged the game for ~2/3 days, but got burned out/bored with it pretty quickly. Still, I can at least say that I had fun throughout the entire experience.

Get this game if: • You want an active clicker game where there is always something to do • You want a polished game where you don’t have to think too much

Don’t get this game if: • You want a game to leave in the background while you go do other stuff • You’re looking for a game with a lot of mechanical depth; the heroes system has some thinking to it, but it feels rather tediously tactical rather than strategic, and QoL is kind of poor.
