Factory Earth review

This game seems to be a disguised series of loading screens. At the start, you have the option to either explore or gather food/water. If you focus on exploring, you'll die quickly because you have no health regen from food/water while being attacked by monsters. If you focus on gathering food/water, you're stuck doing that forever because your collection speed is really slow and your supply constantly depletes. Even once you get a decent stockpile, monsters continuously get stronger so they'll kill you eventually anyway.

So, how do you win, then? Well, you keep all items after dying, so a strategy I found was to just collect a ton of food/water, die, repeat. This takes a really long time to do. That's the first loading screen. Truly revolutionary design.

Once I did that, I finally had a bit more time to explore for more stuff to do and craft. So what did I find? More loading screens! It takes a while to explore and the reward was either "not useful right now" or "literally nothing". It doesn't help that you don't know what's around until you explore first, so you basically have to throw several runs to find out where to go first.

Maybe there was a route to efficiently build my character to survive for a while, but I couldn't find it before I quit out of frustration.
