I appreciate the unfolding nature of the game and its shift from its (already inspired) original gimmick to something far more gleefully deranged. This is chock full of interesting ideas and it's fun to watch them unfold.
That said, it needs some severe rebalancing and a tune-up. As a comment below noted, once you unlock DWK it shifts into a period of mandatory active play and then suddenly hits a hard wall of several hours passive waiting, without even any signal of what to do next. (I gave up on it there.) The late game is unplayably unbalanced and there are some rough patches in early/mid-game as well. This would have been fantastic if it had simply stuck the landing, but it's kind of bewildering how much the experience goes downhill as you play.
