This has always been one of the classics and innovators to me, so I'm a little surprised to see this getting such a chilly reception. The slowness is deliberate, as you're supposed to be pushing through to the various paradigm shifts that enormously pick up the speed of gameplay. And automation doesn't work when a big part of the game is managing the tiered prestige system. Still a classic to me, anyway.
