High Fantasy Idle review

It's just not rewarding. All polish, no inspiration. It's the most generic click-and-wait rote "gameplay" loop you could think of, think early Cookie Clicker days. Prestige rewards are minimal, the initial farmhand prestige gave no noticeable boost when running as a farmhand again. When I rebirthed as a squire instead, the 4 might points I got increased my attack by...0%, which doesn't feel intentional. From my experience, the farmhand gameplay loop boils down to your standard clicker loop between waiting to sleep. Hold to farm, spam the food button to eat (can't hold that one because fuck you I guess,) click sleep button and wait for a bit. Eventually buy some manual skills you can use on a cooldown to make the numbers go up better. Generic and rote, to say the least. Oh, and there is a skill to permanently automate farming, but you can't afford it in your first prestige unless you buy zero unnecessary skills, including an active skill that greatly speeds up progress, and it's not worth being a farmhand in your second life from what I tried. It felt just as slow and tedious as the first time around. And if you thought maybe the squire path would be more interesting, good news! It's less. Stalls earlier and is less active, it's a generic autobattler where you wait for the enemy healthbar to deplete while waiting on upgrades to survive against the next enemy. Progress is less active and takes longer, a lovely combination to be sure. I just can't recommend spending your time on this in good faith. Genuinely, go play solitaire or dice or something instead if you're bored, it's more interesting than this. All polish and no inspiration, that's the feeling I get here. I get the feeling the dev was more interested in the presentation, the visuals and sounds and such. I don't think they made a game they'd want to play.
