The DvD Idle Game review
3
It's very shallow, but...there's not really anything here I find super offensive either, design-wise. It's...eh. I am very ambivalent about this game, so here's some tips and such instead if you're considering playing it.
- There is no mechanic involving logos hitting the corners. In fact, you'll have so many logos bouncing around so quickly you're unlikely to even see if one does.
- The bandwidth you get from the second shop is a temporary multiplier, not a second currency. The third shop is only cosmetic too btw, you don't get anything for maxing out its upgrades either, so I wouldn't recommend bothering. (Also, the cosmetics range from almost unnoticeable to boring to actively worse than the base look, so.)
- Income caps at around 10k coins a second, at best. If you want to max all the upgrades, you will need to spend millions of coins to do so. Say you need 5 mil for the "endgame" upgrades, that would be 8.33 minutes of just waiting for cash. Well, not just waiting, you need to click to renew the bandwidth multiplier to get that 10k a second rate. So, not great, not terrible, just consider if you really wanna do that for the next 8 and a half minutes or so, rounding up to account for the cooldown periods where you lack that bandwidth multiplier, since it does have a cooldown.
- There's no ending, or even anything like an acknowledgement for maxing out all the upgrades, so don't get your hopes up. The game is also very short. Your standard developed-in-an-afternoon uncapped short proof-of-concept experience. Bonus gripe: This game fails the "Consistent significant figures" test. It annoys me when I go from 4 figures (13.75) to 3 figures (102K) to 2 (1.1M). Losing information on how fast the number is actually going up when you cross a significant threshold like that sucks, but it's a very common mistake.
That's it, play it if you want, it'll last less than half an hour but nothing about it is offensively bad, nor is anything about it particularly interesting, and I'll probably have forgotten I played it after a few hours or so.
