Nice graphics and style, but bad mechanics. Very slow progress even in the early game and very little to do while you wait to progress. The upgrades do practically nothing and are have absolutely no explanation---I think I bought around 10 rate of fire upgrades without seeing practically any change in how fast I shot. Was it upgrading rate of fire by 10%? 5? 1? Who knows? Damage upgrades were similarly unknowable. Sometimes I'd buy one and see absolutely no change in my damage numbers. Sometimes I'd get an item that says +3 damage and suddenly be dealing +8. Sometimes I'd get an upgrade that said +25% damage and barely see a 10% increase. Either it's very buggy or the math behind the scenes isn't being explained. In a genre all about numbers, why would you hide 90% of the numbers from the player? Just let me hover over an upgrade to actually see what it does.
Prestige is similarly slow and unexplained. Game doesn't tell you what you need to do to get more prestige currency, you just check the menu every now and then and see that it's gone up. How? Who knows. It takes forever to earn and doesn't give you that much when you do get it. If the early game felt this slow I don't wanna know how slow the late game gets.
Problems aside, there is a playable game here. If you want something that you don't have to pay much attention to that you'll run in the background while you do other stuff and just grab random upgrades when you can afford them without having to look at what they do, I'm sure you could find enjoyment in this game. Unfortunately though, it's got a $5 price tag so I imagine if that's all you want, you'll be able to find plenty more options for free.
