Despite really enjoying A Dark Room, I think it had some flaws. The pacing was a bit too slow for me. Waiting for your workers to gather enough resources to do something interesting was boring, waiting for the right random event to happen was frustrating, but I really enjoyed the world map and the exploration.
This game copies A Dark Room almost exactly and adds just a bit extra, but fixes none of the original problems, and makes it worse by removing the world map and the exploration. In fact, the progression and resource gathering seems slower (or things are more expensive).
As a result, the basic gameplay is to click a series of linear buttons without much thought or strategy, and wait long periods of time to get enough resources to click the next series of buttons, or to wait for the next random event to happen.
Even after choosing and upgrading the raven option that claims to greatly increase the number of people that you meet, I still felt like I was waiting really long periods of time for the next random event to happen. At the very least, if I fail a check for an event and I can do it again later, give me the option to do that whenever I have enough resources (ex: "The knight is unconvinced by your words. He says to come visit him later if you decide to pay. - Add new button to visit knight with a cooldown so you can't just spam trying to convince him" or something like that)
Also, I think the Explore Citadel is broken (or bonuses aren't applied properly) because it always gives me below the lowest end of the ranges displayed in the tooltip. Ex: it says I get "13-24 gold" but I actually get 8.
