The Loopler review
3

I enjoyed the demo; some of the upgrade synergies are pretty satisfying to see once they get going.

There's a bug right now that makes tax gates stupidly overpowered (no use limit, and more than returns gold paid on average while also giving you "extra lives", boost, and fuel), but the game is already feeling polished and has promise. Hoping the locked/hidden upgrades have interesting and varied synergies to explore.

About the other reviews:

I'm not sure what the negative reviews saying "not an incremental" are about; don't get me wrong, this certainly isn't an incremental (it's the classic "run based with meta currency + meta upgrades progression" format)...

...but so are many, MANY games that have been added in the past year, that have been welcomed here and/or on the reddit, such as virtually all "node" games which I feel are an extension of the same "upgrade" format, just with a node-based tree and a focus on much shorter gameplay loops. (such as: Piñata Go Boom, Shelldivers, Wild Growth, Max Manos, and the upcoming already-incredibly-well-received Outhold)

Some people not wanting such games to be posted here is very understandable, there's a conversation to be had there. But to categorically reject only this one because of it and quietly accept those others feels weird to me.
