Got softlocked when the level-up alerts went above the button to do a reset.

Interesting game, but as a lot of people have said, needs better automation.

As grindy as certain points of the game are, you should be able to just leave it running and make progress. This way at least every time the automation stopped, it's because you need to make a new decision, not just click a reset button.
