it was definitely entertaining, I liked the level of grind, it felt rewarding beating some of the harder trainers, but after beating the champion I was disappointed that there weren't really any more challenges to do with the new genetics content I had unlocked. I don't really like the area rotation mechanic either, I had to wait like 4 hours to beat Misty because I only had access to fire and ground types.
