I don't think other people are understanding the math in this game. Either that or it has been updated since the previous reviews and ratings. The progression tree is tiny so the game doesn't really have more than 1 or 2 layers, but I cleared it in 1-2 hours its not bad. Not sure how the dev would add depth though because the final upgrades scale infinitely pretty quick at the end.
