Treeternal review
2

The graphics and sound for this little camp in the forest are charming, and I enjoyed the first few outings chopping down trees. But it got monotonous really quickly. Adding the tier 2 and tier 3 trees didn't improve things much, as they didn't offer dramatically more money for the effort, and upgrading them didn't ramp up the differentiation very quickly.

Adding more and more workers was relatively cheap, but it didn't feel like I was ramping up with them OR hitting a wall where I needed to really focus on upgrading my own harvesting powers. Because it got so boring just to harvest wood I experimented a while with just letting all my workers loose... that was long and slow. (The days are way too long!) Then I experimented with trying to upgrade my own powers to see if I could make the game feel like it mattered for me to become a minor Paul Bunyan and do my own work... but that didn't seem to be rewarded, either. Hunting down higher tier trees with my own upgraded damage didn't meaningfully change how quickly I earned money, so I abandoned the effort.

This seems like a lovely proof of concept, but without a real game built for it, yet.
