Sludgineers review

Eh, I don't hate it, it's just kinda bland. It's unclear how long it actually takes to vacuum up sludge because the vacuum itself blocks your sight, so you kinda just have to wave your cursor over stuff until there stops being sludge there, which doesn't feel very responsive.

After doing a few runs of grinding for the bonus cash you get from uncovering specific structures, I managed to get enough upgrades to completely clean the first level...and then the progress bar still said I was 10-15% away from being done, if I were to estimate. I hunted down little bits and individual pixels of sludge, but those barely added anything. In the end, I just waved my cursor over the entire area until I ran out of power, and I still didn't get particularly close to actually finishing the level!

So then I went back to the upgrades, looking for anything which would let me highlight remaining sludge or something, or perhaps clean sludge without having to know where it is...and I was immediately faced with multiple upgrades which were locked for the demo. I had only bought a few different upgrades, and was already being walled?

So I just closed the game at that point. I'm so, SO tired of playing demos which lock out the actual upgrades which might help the game play better. Demos are supposed to convince people that they want to play your game, and actively making the demo LESS fun and rewarding doesn't do that, I'm afraid to say.

Idea isn't bad, it could be good, but I'm not rating for what COULD exist, lots of games COULD be good. But as of now, this is just a less than impressive demo, I'm afraid. The polish is nice, I like the colors getting brighter as you clean and seeing the sludge go down the hose, but if I just wanted something nice to look at, I'd just go watch an animation, frankly. What's here right now just...isn't really worth writing home about.
