Requiring a gmail address to signup is... stupid. And the dev said it was because he wanted to limit people to only one account each, which that definitely does not do, so already confidence in this developer is low.

But getting past that, I tried the game. It's terrible. It's incredibly slow paced. It's based on a tick system where every action takes place on a periodic tick event that seems to happen every ~1.5 seconds or so, but very often the game missed a tick and will sit there for several seconds doing nothing.

Most of the early game actions like foraging, battling, mining, seem reasonable. You level up reasonably fast, and get several perks and skill points along the way. But learning new skills requires money, at least 100 coins, and many of the skills are more than that (usually 300-500). And making money is by far the most limiting factor in the game. NOTHING gets you a good profit. You can grind foraging/mining/battling for 30 mins and walk away with maybe 10-20 coins profit, because every time you sell you then need to buy rations to feed yourself, and bandages to heal, and you almost always lose a couple coins in the tavern after selling (an automatic event). I even saved money to buy the trade skill first since I was hoping that would multiply my gains from selling. As far as I can tell, it had zero effect and was completely not worth it.

Even at level 11 after ~15 hours in game, I still can't go more than 3 squares away from the initial town without getting bodied.

The game says it's an MMO, but there is no way to interact with other people other than chat. You can see that they're there, you just can't trade with them or attack them or form a group with them and fight together.

And the game gives you no information about ANYTHING.

  • What do the skills do?
  • How much does this skill cost? (you have to try learning the skill and then you'll get an error saying "Learning that skill requires 100 coins")
  • What do your stats do?
  • How do you get more stats? (you have to log off, you only generate stat points while offline, something the game never tells you....)

One time, a guy in chat said, "You need to get away from the city. Questing events give you decent money."

In the ~15 hours I spent playing I got maybe 4 questing events, and the best one gave me like 40 coins. To put this in perspective, one of the early quests is to buy a plot of land for your house, and it costs 10 silver (1000 coins).

I finally noped out when the next quest was to get 150 stones for the foundation of my house, and unlocking masonry was another 300+ coins (after having spent everything for the plot of land). Grind for 300 more coins.. no thanks. Grind masonry skill until I get 150 stones... god no please.
