HOOEEELLLYYYY MMMOOOLLLIIIIIII
THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR ON THIS SITE FOR SO DAMNING LONG OMG 0W0
Okay so, stopping the rambling for a second - I loved this game. When playing on the harder mode, it was the perfect mix of strategy and active gameplay that I love out of the ones I play. Several layers of depth that unfold excellently AND amazing and easy-to-intuit mechanics that intersect amazingly. While there were point where I was a little confused, the game allowed for me to get to grips with what was happening. Initially, the UI is a bit clunky, but honestly anything can be clunky if you fuble it in your head enough :P
My favourite moment for me was near the end where I finally noticed that the rival AI group was actually leading, which made that last bit feel like a race until... well, it happened :>
As someone who absolutely DISPISES generative artificial algorithms in the stuff I find, I was quite intruiged to see what the other side was like, even in a fantasy land where it was, y'know, profitable ;P BIG reccomend, absolutely going in the my story-heavy list regardless of whatever it is.
Oh, and one more thing - YOU. The reader, that is: There is a non-zero likelyhood that you just voted this game without playing it because of the mere mention of AI. Don't do that. I don't get it. Stop it >:( As far as I can tell, there's no AI use in this game (Which would have been really ironic lol) so you have no reason to hate this game other than the game itself. Play it first, ya dinguses >:( (Or at least that's what it looked like, I don't know what you're actually thinking. Sorry if you're not this -.-)
Honestly, I think this review is primarily coming from a certain level of burnout with the large amount of "level-tree-collect-stuff-loop-progress" games that have appeared here, which I get is an easy formula to make but it has a really shallow max depth and doesn't work well with how I play games. This one feels like a classic in the best sense, thinking Universal Paperclips and the such.
I'm gonna stop now, but needless to say that I'll be waiting patiently for Act 2 (this isn't even the whole game btw???? How????? its so much...) when it releases :D
- Wepium ,^,/
Edit: egg on my face huh... so apparently, they used AI for the development of the game, which... uhh... I feel iffy on. As far as I can tell they haven't used it for the story, but I'm not gonna too enthusiastic anymore...
I would have liked there to be a disclaimer about it somewhere, though I wonder how much I would've loved it initially otherwise. I just hope the game is more self-made in the future
Gonna drop a star but I'm still gonna reccomend it, it's still pretty unique and I would hope to see hwo it evolves :)
