Helios Contract review
5

Pretty awesome game! I don’t understand why it has such negative reviews here, on Itch it’s rated 4.56/5, strange.

Anyway, I loved the music, the weird, unsettling atmosphere, the faces, the symbols... and while the core mechanic is simple, it works well for a few levels.

I do have a couple of comments, though:

  • The points you earn at the end of each level (trust points?) don’t seem to accumulate, and I think they should. The more you play, the more you should be able to unlock, even if you’re stuck on the earlier levels.
  • The asteroid attack feels a bit unfair. I don’t feel in control, like there isn’t much I can do except watch it play out. Sometimes you can speed up planets to intercept them, but that’s situational. Most of the time, if an asteroid is going to hit, there’s nothing you can do. That makes it feel more random than skill-based, which can be frustrating. It could be solved with the directional strike, but it's like 1 strike with a cooldown of like 20 seconds (by that time the asteroid strike is over) -Too much clicking. If you want to gain an edge you have to click too much. Maybe don't make the game rely on clicking. Maybe hovering or holding down left click or an autoclick upgrade or something.

And that’s about it. I didn’t run into many issues overall, it’s a cool, fun game. It’s just a shame that people are leaving negative reviews without really explaining why.
